Howdy! I am a senior nursing student, planning to graduate in August 2025. I chose nursing because I have always been passionate about engaging in clinical situations and addressing the diverse needs of every patient. I look forward to one day teaching in a clinical learning environment, where I can share my knowledge and experiences with future nursing professionals.
In addition to my passion for nursing, I possess strong leadership and counseling skills. These qualities have been instrumental in helping me navigate various challenging situations, both in and out of the classroom. I genuinely enjoy health teaching and engaging with patients, breaking down complex medical information into understandable terms, and encouraging healthier lifestyles. It’s incredibly rewarding to see patients and their families feel more confident and informed about their health care, knowing that I’ve played a part in that process.
However, the journey to becoming a competent nurse is not without its hurdles. There have been moments of self-doubt and academic challenges that tested my resolve. Achieving academic excellence is crucial in nursing, and I’ve had to work hard to meet the high standards set by my program. A D+ grade, for instance, signifies a performance that is below the expected standard, typically ranging from 67-69%. While receiving such a grade can be disheartening, it serves as a humbling reminder of the areas where I need to improve. Nursing programs maintain rigorous academic standards because the knowledge and skills we acquire directly impact the quality of care we provide.
Striving for better grades is essential, not just for personal achievement but to ensure that I am fully prepared to meet the demands and responsibilities of being a nurse. I believe that facing and overcoming these challenges will ultimately make me a more resilient and capable nurse. My experiences, both successes and setbacks, have fueled my determination to excel and have reinforced my commitment to providing compassionate and competent care to all my patients.
