I will give you weekly updates on my current mission. I will also attached interesting attachments! I hope this finds you entertaining!
Heads up! I had a great week, I got the chance to visit families in our area and I might get transffered, in a couple of weeks! I am excited to get transferred but also, I am frowning. I do not want to leave San Pablo Zone! I will also share my step-out-of-the-door proselyting stories!
Teaching: Step out of the Door, Proselyte
We visit a few families in Sta. Felomina, which is a 20 to 30 minute drive to Del Remedio: Pullo Family, Claro Family and Sister Marilyn. I will talk about two individuals, Sister Lian and Sister Marilyn.
• Sister Lian
Sister Lian is one of our Potential Baptisms this month. She is young and slowly understanding the doctrine. She had her baptismal interview and she passed! Unfortunately, a few days after on her baptism. Sister Lian’s Mom directly told us, if we can postpone her baptism. We were shocked to find out sudden changes. My companions and I called Sister Lian to find out her concern. To her response, she couldn’t feel the spirit.
My mouth couldn’t open much on our phone call, because I felt terrible I wasn’t able to provide her all the resources. My companions started to cry, as they were excited for their first baptism. My senior and I did not cry, we were silent for hours in the apartment, looking at each other.
Honestly, I was frustrated, but I know Heavenly Father has a timetable for each of his children. I know there will be a right time for her to get baptized
• Sister Marilyn
Sister Marilyn is one of our Potential Baptisms. She already build her testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith. You could tell, she is ready to get baptized, but through sudden changes.
She couldn’t get baptized, because she can’t attend church. It almost seems easy to attend but, she doesn’t have much. She’s having a hard time finding a stable job. The house she lives in with her 4 kids, is an old crooked wood house, with no water and no electricity. The surroundings were a bunch of trees and muddy roads. To imagine it, it’s a very poor area. To cut it short, she has nothing to provide for her family.
Sister Amper and Sister Limnoan taught them the Plan of Salvation. My companions did a good job. We end up bearing our testimonies. It was quick, but we had leave soon or we would walk miles to our apartment. It was getting late and dark outside.
While discussing, my companions notice my eyes were about to drip its’ sweat. Sister Marilyn touched my heart. They live and apply the gospel, hoping God will lift this adversary. Even though they had nothing. I ended up my testimony, “I know Heavenly Father will give them the right time to lift this adversary.” Then, we left.
This is the challenging part of the mission, is going home on time and not ruining the moment on our teaching appointments. Pasensyahan nalang kami ni Sister Guzman, pero I would always, “We really appreciate you having us over and we wish we could spend more time but we have to go :)”
I might have to postponed a bit for these stories. I know you want to read more. It will take us tomorrow to finish it. I might talk it out next week.
District: Special Invitation and Farewell
We got invited to District 2, but this time, with the Calauan and San Pablo 4 Elders, meaning we didn’t had our district swaps that day. The Meeting was great, it was more of a farewell discussion. We had a spiritual District Council Meeting, for a good amount of 2 hours.
I was the chorister, and with the help of Elder Rivero we chose two hymns for the meeting, “I Need Thee Every Hour” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” It was ‘very’ fitting for our farewell discussion.
Elder Galang and Elder Nisperos had their workshop focusing on, “Charity.” I appreciate their discussion on Charity. They gave emphasis on the Saviour’s role of loving everyone, and it has to be applied in the mission. Through the attribute of Charity, individuals and families whom rejected us will slowly soften their heart and gradually learn the gospel.
Mission Updates: Transfers
How did you find out you are transferring?
Last week! I have not received any calls with President Valdez but the Mission Leaders already announced. They gave me a heads up! Supposedly on Tuesday I might get a call from the APs or President, but it was postponed due to Zone Conferences. Elder Galang and Sister Gonzales reminded my leave of transfers. I might leave San Pablo Zone next week or a couple of weeks.
When you say, “Transferring” to Sacramento or within San Pablo?
Don’t get confused! I am transferring within my current mission, ‘within the San Pablo Mission Area‘ and not ‘transferring outside the San Pablo Mission‘. I might be in Batangas Zone, Lipa Zone or Cabuyao Zone or even better in Lucena Zone. It’ll be funny if I stay in San Pablo Zone. I’ll see this week!
How does it feel knowing you’ll be getting transferred?
Geez, you asked me. I don’t want to leave San Pablo 3! If I could glued myself through the wall. I will never leave an inch! It will be so much better, but I can’t! They want me to kick out! Haha! I cannot believe my Mission Leaders, ZLs and STLs talked about my leave. I also got a call from President Valdez regarding of my family (it made my day). I know President doesn’t joke around. So, I don’t know the feeling of transferring, but I do know the feeling of missing, as the bus takes you to a different feel.
I love San Pablo Zone. This is a miracle Zone! It has loads of amazing members, progressing people and great amount of baptisms. You will love this Zone, as much as I love it. Right now, it’s hard to leave. I tried to brush it off a few times this week, but I couldn’t, because I love my Mission Area.
Are you going to Sacramento?
Great question! As of now, I don’t have any updates. I receive emails from my close friends asking if I had interviews with my Mission President regarding of Sac. Unfortunately, I don’t, but I remember my interviews with my former Mission President, President Davies. He quoted President Bangeter’s talk, “There will come a time that the Filipinos of the Philippines will serve the Philippines and Asia.“
As I was reminded by this quote. This is a brand new start for the Philippines Missions to receive Filipino Missionaries! I know the Filipinos will gather Israel in their native country.
Alright, that’s a wrap! I really appreciate the effort! I’ll send out an email next week! I hope this made your day! ♡
