Week 58: “Lockdown” Philippines San Pablo Mission, Lucena Zone.

Hello! This is Sister Dilag. I am currently serving in the Philippines San Pablo Mission, Lucena Zone.

I will give you weekly updates on my current mission. I will also attach interesting attachments! I hope this finds you entertaining!

Heads up! There were changes on our work in Lucena Zone. We will be working indoors and less with the outdoors, due to the rapid increase of the COVID-19. This is for our safety and healthcare.

Events: Meetings & Visits

I will share experiences working with the Lucena Zone and Stake. I will divide these into sections for you to identify and to visualize experiences of mine.

• MeetingsDistrict Council Meeting

On the 7th, we conducted our District Council Meeting at the Lucena Stake. We invited a few of our Ward Missionaries in the Lucena Stake, to participate on our Meeting which involves Key Indicators and Actions to Increase our Numbers. It was fascinating to see the Missionaries working with the Members on their assigned areas through finding and teaching. It somehow made a big impact to our work, and the numbers we set gradually increased.

During the Meeting, we conducted several numbers for our Key Indicators: B/Cs, BGDs, NPs, PSMs, PMLs, MLs, OYMs. In addition, we added four numbers for our Media Use: TNTs, CARs, RBTs, RBCs. Our Mission provided these Numbers to identify our work and performance on our assigned areas. We set a good total of numbers for the cycle, it was a good stretch and realistic.

The Missionaries of the Lucena Zone are: Elder CabuyabanElder Rolloque (Lucena 3 Elders), Elder EnriquezElder Socorro (Barra Elders), Elder RaguinanElder Namoro (Lucban Elders), Sister VillacanasSister Mirandilla (Candelaria Sisters), Sister Guarde and I (Tayabas Sisters). I love spending time with these Missionaries, they are the best! I had a strong bond with them, and somehow I grew to learn much from them.

I couldn’t remember the other Ward Missionaries attended on our Meeting, but I will try to remember a few: Brother Manuel, Brother Sherwin, Brother Jared, Sister Diantha, Sister Sheen and a bunch I couldn’t remember. They are the coolest Members! I had a fun time getting to know them better and get to see them participate on our work!

• VisitsPerandos & Cuevas

On the 8th, we were invited to have dinner with the Perandos‘. They are the best! We were able to share Mission Experiences and a few cool verses such as, “Where can you find in the Book of Mormon where they shaved?” It was so funny! We went after on our Book of Mormon chase until we found it on (woopsies, I would not tell). It was a fun activity and I got to learn tricks on getting into the scriptures.

On the 9th, we were picked up by the Cuevas‘ and we are Lunch with them. It was the best experience and it was my first time meeting them! All of them were good in English, and I did not spoke English, I speak Tagalog. Haha. It seems I am getting into the language better. We ate good food and we get to know them better. The Cuevas’ were converts, they were baptized at Taiwan and married in the Manila Philippines Temple. It was amazing to hear their stories and it made sense as to their language. It was so cool to listen. I love their kids too! They are the best!

Mission Updates: What comes next?

For the whole month (I guess) we will be working on our phones to find new people to teach and getting to those contacts received from Media. We are on the process of getting into the tone of the Referrals. Some worked, others didn’t seemed to get into the conversation. We chuckled and sort of have fun with the contacts, because it’s all we can do. We had to wait until the changes may be lifted.

We will be having Baptisms for next week! I am so impressed and happy to see them preparing for baptism. Brother Jeremy Quidlat of youth age, will be baptized on the 17th. His baptism will be held at Lucena. Sister Anna Cañar will be married on the 16th, and then afterwards be baptized on the 17th. Her baptism will be held at Tayabas. It was a great experience to have them and to get them into the learning of the Church.

I do have a testimony of the Joy of Service. It is the greatest work and the greatest blessing to be serving others. Despite of changes on our work, we can still find joy in many ways and reach out with different and unique approaches.

Love,

Sister Dilag
